Hello, my name is Andy. I am a user interface designer with over 6 years experience designing for a mix of marketing and e-commerce websites. Recently my focus has been designing websites that achieve platform-independence—so work equally well on mobile, tablet and desktop—using responsive web design.
My passion is design and I am always looking to take on exciting projects (so do get in touch).
At its root I believe that design for the web is about problem solving: helping you to meet your objectives and communicate in a way that attracts and engages your audience. The best design establishes moments of delight that create a connection and engender loyalty—whether in the form of repeat business, advocacy or both.
I am in the lucky position to frequently see projects through from start to finish. This holistic approach allows me to understand how a project fits with your objectives as a business, and what your audience expects of the services you offer. I have found that this provides a great foundation from which to look at both the visual design and interactions required, and so design a website that fulfils your needs. Being equally comfortable with code (HTML, CSS and jQuery), allows me to see the design through to a functioning prototype or the live website.
Currently I work as an in-house designer for The Travel Corporation. We have just completed a redesign of the platform that allows travel agents (B2B) and consumers (B2C) to book holidays with several of our flagship brands. You can read more about my involvement in this case study.
Previously I worked at the University of Reading, where I was responsible for implementing the University’s brand digitally. The highlight was the redesign of the University home page, which improved focus on student recruitment and promotional activities. I would also provide guidance about web standards, accessibility and user experience to colleagues who ran Department websites.
If you think that I can help you with an upcoming project, do get in touch.
